Mariana Gómez, CDCES

Mariana is a passionate advocate for people with diabetes, drawing on her extensive experience as a certified health coach, psychologist, and translator. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and has completed a diploma in Narrative Therapy and Social Constructionism. Mariana is also a Certified Coach by the International Association for Health Coaches.

Mariana’s expertise in diabetes stems from her own personal experience as a person living with type 1 diabetes for over 30 years. This firsthand understanding, coupled with her professional qualifications, has fueled her dedication to empowering others to manage their diabetes and live fulfilling lives. Mariana is the creator of Dulcesitos Para Mi, a pioneering blog for people with type 1 diabetes in Mexico. She is also the co-author of “Había una vez una Diabetes” and has authored over 100 articles on diabetes. Mariana’s writing and advocacy have earned her recognition as a respected voice in the diabetes community.

Mariana’s professional experience includes working in non-profit organizations, where she has held positions ranging from website coordinator to communications manager. She has also served as a speaker at various conferences, including events hosted by the International Diabetes Federation, the Mexican Federation of Diabetes, and others around the world. In 2024, Mariana was selected as a mentor in the Changemakers program of Life for a Child. She was also part of the team that collaborated with JDRF (now Breakthrough T1D) and the “Beyond Type 1-JDRF alliance” to launch the TypeOneNation Virtual Summit in Spanish. Mariana also contributed to the creation of Spanish-language materials for Bag of Hope and Care Kits.

Currently, Mariana serves on the Programs Division of Beyond Type 1 in the USA. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in Education at the Universidad Intercontinental.
